    The Senior Director, U.S. Policy Campaigns and Strategic Alliances will develop and execute strategic public policy campaigns aimed at supporting enterprise strategies to address threats to the innovation model. This role requires a visionary leader with exceptional communication skills, a passion for shaping policy, and a deep understanding of stakeholder engagement and advocacy to successfully shape the external environment. The leader will be dedicated to the Business Evolution Strategic Development (BESD) team and work with cross-functional partners to ensure campaign goals align with company goals and positions. They will be responsible for developing a compelling narrative that showcases the consequences of unfavorable public policy decisions. They will work to condition the environment to reject anti-innovation policy proposals and accept new, innovative solutions that improve the U.S. innovation model and patient access to our medicines.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute the public policy campaign strategy aligned with organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement a narrative that is effective in garnering decision-makers support of our position and advances organizational objectives.
    • Build and maintain relationships with trade associations, think tanks, advocacy organizations and other key partners to drive campaign success.
    • Develop and oversee campaign strategies that effectively convey campaign goals and messages to target audiences.
    • Utilize research, data analysis, and metrics to inform campaign strategies and measure success.
    • Address challenges and obstacles within campaigns, applying creative solutions to keep initiatives on track.
    • Oversee budget allocation and manage resources efficiently to maximize campaign impact.
    • Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in related field such as, Political Science, Public Policy or Communications required. Advanced degree preferred.
      • Ten or more years of relevant experience in either the health care industry, government, political campaigns and/or other policy-focused role.
      • Experience in issue advocacy campaigns including designing and leading coalitions and campaigns required.
      • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal government processes and regulations.
      • Proven experience in leading teams and directing public policy campaigns.
      • Experience in digital, social and earned media strategies on policy issues that drive engagement and action.
      • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
      • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
      • A knack for creative storytelling and a desire to find innovative ways to engage policy audiences, regulators and partners.
      • Well-honed political acumen and impeccable integrity while having the executive presence necessary to deal effectively with high-profile stakeholders such as company executives and a variety of external constituencies including governments and leadership of external organizations.
      • Must work well in a team environment and enjoys working in a collegial, yet highly demanding culture.
      • Flexible and resilient problem solver with the willingness to build broad-based consensus and manage sensitive situations.
      • Domestic travel (25 percent) required.

      Location: This position will be based in AbbVie's DC office with a hybrid work model (on site 3+ days/week).

This range may be modified in thefuture. Salary: $200,500 - $382,000
