We're looking for a Virtual American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter whos passionate about bridging communication gaps and supporting Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students in an online learning environment.
This role is more than just interpretingits about helping students connect, learn, and thrive in virtual classrooms across the state.
Join live virtual classes and interpret lessons, discussions, and group work between students and teachers using ASL.
Facilitate real-time communication during virtual school events, meetings, and one-on-one sessions.
Adjust interpreting style and mode (ASL, PSE, etc.) to fit the unique needs of each student.
Support educational access by interpreting a variety of academic subjectsfrom math to social studies.
Work alongside educators, special education staff, and families to ensure student success and equitable access to curriculum.
Maintain confidentiality, respect student privacy, and uphold professional standards.
Use tools like Zoom, Google Meet, and learning management systems to deliver seamless remote interpreting services.
Strong fluency in American Sign Language and spoken/written English.
Certification through RID or a Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level II or III .
Comfortable using video conferencing and digital classroom tools.
Experience working with K12 students (especially in an educational or virtual setting) is a big plus.
A reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional home workspace.
