This is tracked within the department by management from documentation provided by the Surgical Technician employee. + 1-3 years of operating room surgical technician experience required + 1-2 years of lead surgical technician responsibilities preferred **Licenses and Certifications** + CST - Certified Surgical Technologist required + CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation within three (3) months of hire and must be maintained required + BCLS - Basic Life Support required **Essential Functions** + Prepares the operating room for surgical cases, ensuring all equipment, instruments, and supplies are properly organized and available by applying principles of Universal Precautions, asepsis, and sterile technique. + Maintains aseptic techniques and ensures sterile field integrity during surgical procedures. + Anticipates the surgeon's needs during procedures, efficiently passing instruments and materials as required. + Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse to ensure patient safety. + Retains, labels, and documents specimens for pathology accurately, ensuring proper handling and transfer. + Cleans, reprocesses, and sterilizes surgical instruments and equipment following established protocols. **About Crestwood Medical Center** Crestwood Medical Center is a Tier 1 Facility from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama.
