Base pay range $178,000.00/yr - $218,000.00/yr Senior Investment Officer (Quantitative Strategy), P-5 (Job No. 266223) Deadline to apply: December 5, 2025 Job Summary Join the Office of Investment Management (OIM) of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) as a Senior Investment Officer (Quantitative Strategy) , based in New York. In this strategic role, you will lead the design, implementation, and management of quantitative investment strategies across global markets, supporting one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated multi-asset institutional portfolios. OIM manages over US$95 billion in a global, multi-asset class portfolio, approximately 85% of which is actively managed in-house across equities, fixed income, private markets, and real assets. The Office is responsible for safeguarding the long-term financial security of UN system staff by achieving sustainable, risk-adjusted investment returns in alignment with the Fund’s four key criteria: safety, profitability, liquidity, and convertibility. The Senior Investment Officer reports to the Deputy Chief Investment Officer (DCIO) and works closely with the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) , risk management, and asset class heads across OIM. Job Responsibilities Develop and implement quantitative investment strategies across assigned asset classes—including public equity and fixed income—to achieve superior risk-adjusted returns relative to benchmarks. Support the CIO and DCIO in asset allocation and investment strategy formulation through quantitative analysis of fundamental, technical, and macroeconomic factors. Conduct due diligence on external managers for quantitative strategies, monitor portfolio performance, and recommend rebalancing or manager changes as appropriate. Explore opportunities for internal quantitative management , leveraging advanced statistical modeling, algorithmic trading, and data analytics techniques. Collaborate with the risk management team to build quantitative models, perform factor and stress testing analysis, and identify systemic risks and opportunities across the total portfolio. Integrate Sustainable Investment (ESG) principles into all stages of strategy design, portfolio management, and manager selection. Contribute to tactical and strategic asset allocation decisions , participating in Internal Investment Committee (IIC) discussions and recommending data-driven insights. Foster cross-asset collaboration by sharing quantitative best practices and coordinating research initiatives across equities, fixed income, and private markets. Produce accurate, timely, and high-quality reports for senior management, governing bodies, and committees, including the RSG, CIO, and DCIO. Oversee the work programme of assigned staff , ensuring adherence to the Investment Policy, risk guidelines, and UN financial regulations. Promote transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency , ensuring best value for money across research, advisory, and data resources. Manage and mentor investment professionals , fostering career development, continuous learning, and high-performance culture within the team. Initiate and lead special projects aimed at enhancing quantitative research capabilities, data infrastructure, and decision-making tools. Use data visualization and advanced analytics (e.g., Python, Bloomberg, FactSet, MSCI) to support data-driven portfolio insights and presentations. Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in quantitative strategy design, portfolio management, and investment analysis is required. Proven expertise in financial modeling, quantitative techniques, and risk management within an institutional investment environment is required. Experience in quantitative asset allocation and cross-asset factor analysis is desirable. At least five years of experience managing quantitative investment portfolios is desirable. Experience with in-house portfolio management at large institutional investors or pension funds comparable to UNJSPF is desirable. Proficiency in programming and financial analytics tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, or related platforms is desirable. Experience with financial software and databases (Bloomberg, FactSet, MSCI, eVestment, Morningstar) is desirable. Strong understanding of ESG integration and responsible investing principles is desirable. CFA designation or equivalent professional certification is desirable.
