Position Overview The Education Advisor/Career Navigator provides educational and career advising services to residents and detainees, including intake testing, academic progress monitoring, and counseling. The role involves coordinating educational programs within correctional facilities and supporting residents' transition to post-secondary education or training. Key Responsibilities Administer intake testing (e.g., TABE) and record results. Provide educational advising to residents/detainees, supporting their academic and career development. Support transition planning for residents pursuing further education or training. Maintain accurate records and report on educational progress and advising sessions. Collaborate with staff and external agencies to meet residents' needs. Participate in mandatory training and work at least two evenings per week as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, sociology, or related field; Master’s preferred. One year of experience in adult basic education or advising preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education preferred. Additional Requirements Ability to work independently and handle stressful situations calmly. Physical ability to perform job functions (e.g., sit, stand, lift up to 5 pounds).
