About the Company

A prestigious global firm at the intersection of professional services, consulting, and law is hiring a Human Resources Manager to lead people strategy for its flagship Chicago Headquarters.

About the Role

This high-visibility, high-impact role blends classic HR leadership with the nuance and relationship-building required to support Partners, and senior business leaders in a matrixed, client-facing environment. You’ll serve as trusted advisor and change agent across the full talent lifecycle—from performance management to coaching, mobility, engagement, retention, and high-stakes employee relations. You'll also act as a critical liaison to national and global HR counterparts, ensuring seamless strategy execution across regions.

Responsibilities

• Firmwide Visibility – Trusted by leadership to drive strategy in one of the firm's most important U.S. offices
• Executive Influence – Partner to senior legal and functional leaders on engagement, coaching, organizational health, and retention
• Enterprise Scope – Collaborate with national and global HR counterparts in Talent Management, Learning, DEI, and Mobility
• Talent Champion – Influence career progression, performance planning, and succession design across business and legal teams
• Strategic & Tactical Balance – A rare chance to shape high-level people strategy while staying grounded in hands-on leadership

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of progressive HR experience in consulting, professional services, or law firm settings
• Exceptional EQ, discretion, and ability to influence highly accomplished stakeholders
• Deep expertise in employee relations, compliance, performance, coaching, and development
• Track record of advising on complex people matters with judgment, agility, and confidentiality
• Comfort navigating multiple jurisdictions and compliance environments
• Experience managing partner onboarding, succession, and associate development programs a strong plus

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor’s in HR, Organizational Development, Psychology, or related field
• SHRM-CP/SCP or equivalent certification preferred
• Working knowledge of mobility policies, employment law, and multi-state labor regulations

Pay range and compensation package

$150K–$175K + Bonus Eligible
