Position Summary:

As a Criminal Defense Attorney at Kitay Law Firm, you will represent clients in criminal and quasi-criminal matters across Pennsylvania’s state and federal courts. This role involves legal advocacy, client engagement, case management, and collaboration with colleagues to deliver outstanding legal services and compassionate support to our clients.

Qualifications:

• Education & Licensure:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D) from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar.
  • Willingness to obtain admission to federal court if not already admitted.
• Experience:
  • 2+ years of criminal defense litigation preferred.
  • Demonstrated courtroom and jury trial experience preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Legal Representation:
  • Defend clients in all stages of criminal proceedings, including arraignments, bail hearings, pre-trial motions, trials, sentencing, and appeals.
  • Develop and implement tailored legal strategies.
  • Draft and argue motions, legal briefs, and other filings.
  • Negotiate plea deals and alternative resolutions when appropriate.
  • Stay current on Pennsylvania and federal criminal law.
  • Work with investigators, forensic experts, or other specialists to gather additional evidence.
• Client Engagement:
  • Conduct intake interviews and assess potential cases.
  • Maintain consistent, empathetic communication with clients.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel with a client-first mindset.
• Case Management:
  • Maintain meticulous case files and accurately document all case activity in the firm’s case management software.
  • Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure timely and effective case progression.
  • Manage court deadlines, filings, and appearances.
• Legal Research & Writing:
  • Draft and file motions, briefs, and other legal documents in compliance with court rules and procedural requirements.
  • Conduct in-depth research on statutes, case law, and legal precedents relevant to each matter.
• Team & Firm Participation:
  • Actively participate in team meetings, performance reviews, and firm initiatives.
  • Contribute to a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Embody and promote the firm’s Core Values in all interactions.
• Authority :
  • May delegate case-related tasks to paralegals and support staff while retaining responsibility for outcomes.
  • No supervisory authority unless explicitly assigned by firm leadership.
