Job Overview:

The clinical Informatics specialist integrates clinical science with multiple information management and analytical sciences to identify, define, manage, and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in clinical practice.

The clinical informatics specialist supports nurses, consumers, patients, the interprofessional healthcare team, and other stakeholders in the user of technology to support clinical care.

Activities include but are not limited to collaborating with customers and other IT team members to partner to define problems.

Participates in the design, development, implementation, education, and evaluation technology in the clinical areas.

In addition, they are responsible for advocacy, identification of issues, documentation, and escalation of issues.

Qualifications:

The clinical informatics specialist will work with individuals of other professions to maintain a climate of mutual respect and shared values.

They will communicate with patients, families, communities, and professionals in health and other fields in a responsive and responsible manner that supports a team approach to the promotion and maintenance of health.

Required:

RN or clinical Licensure in NJ

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or other clinical licensure program, Bachelor of Science in Nursing or clinical field preferred,

Certifications:

Epic Clinical Informatics Certification and Nursing ANCC/ HIMSS certifications preferred

Experience:

  • 3+ years of clinical experience with progressive leadership responsibilities and 1 2 years relevant informatics experience preferred

Job Specific Requirements:

The Informatics Specialist 2 is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Provides operational support to local team to provide customer support, rounding, education, implement clinical changes, coordinate and collaborate with local SME to plan, deliver, and evaluate changes related to the use of technology and data
  • Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the relationship between clinical and health IT for the delivery of optimal evidence based practice and knowledge development through the execution of the test scripts, and documents all test outcomes, including troubleshooting and support with minimal oversight
  • Rigorous documentation of problems including audits, design sessions, planning, collaboration, and implementation activities including but not limited to rounds and in service of their teams with minimal oversight
  • Ensures that all problems have discrete metrics of outcomes to ensure a scientific and rigorous approach to outcomes with minimal oversight
  • Maintains a culture within the team and with external collaboration upholding the RWJBH standards of ethics, culturally congruent practice, and communication/ collaboration
  • Acts as a resource for Level 1 Informatics Specialists and representatives
  • Maintains required professional development, competencies, and continuing education
  • Collaborates with local SME s in Quality and Regulatory under the guidance of leadership to ensure optimal quality of practice by ensuring awareness and competency to new regulations
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership
  • Applicant is expected to obtain and maintain Epic certification as current in accordance with dept requirements
